Do you ever want to just run away for a couple days, get out of the grind? Kyle Woke up last Sunday and told me he wanted to take our kids on an adventure. I searched every possible water spot within 3 hours from our house. Everywhere was either booked or over $400 a night.
Then I went to Airbnb , and found this adorable little cabin about two hours from our house in Philadelphia, Mo. ( I didn't know this was a place! Its about 20 minutes from Hannibal, Mo) We got to stay in a real tiny house on our own private lake, with a deck/dock , and experience all the magic. I would love to raise my kids on 30 + acres of farm land with chickens and a huge garden, but this will have to do for now. Finding a spot to get them out of their element and in nature was SO AMAZING.
For $115 I got to cook bacon on an open fire, and drink coffee on the Dock at Sunrise with my babies, listening to the birds chirp. We have never just got up with the sun to listen to the Birds Chirp. Juliette swam in the lake for the first time ever , we chased the fish up and down the shore line, and I almost got attacked by a rooster trying to snatch an egg. The house was stocked with kayaks, inner tubes, canoes, a floating dock, and floating mini trampoline for the kids. It also had fishing poles and some pretty massive fish!
Kyle and I were shocked that it took us a while to really unwind. I think in today’s world we are so OVERLY stimulated by social media, Tv, hectic schedules, and activities. It is easy to forget how to really enjoy the Little Moments. This really helped us and was so refreshing for our family.
I am Grateful to the family that put their house on AirBnB to share with others and grateful to a husband that will get in the car and go. I hope we never lose the ability to stop and soak up the slow moments that really make life special. If you live in MO and want to check out the house, here is the link. Its such an amazing secret getaway super close to St. Louis.
