Kid Friendly Restaurants in St. Louis
Do you have a weekly date night with your spouse? I hear a lot about couples making weekly date night a priority and I think it is seriously amazing! I also know ( at least in our life) it is not always possible . Between crazy schedules, sitters, and budgets; sometimes you have to carve at those special romantic moments at home after bedtime which can be just as wonderful!
Along with couples date nights, I am a firm believer in family date nights. Theres something really fun about taking time to do special things with your kids especially in todays distracted and chaotic world. It slows down time a bit and really lets you enjoy each other and does not need to be super expensive to be enjoyable.
I have a column in Town and Style Magazine called ‘My Messy Mom Life.’ In February I wrote an article about 5 great family date restaurants to take your kids for Valentines Day. You can check that article out here!
Below are a few more great kid friendly places and restaurants in St. Louis for family date night that will not break the bank.
Olivette Lanes : My kids love bowling! Charlie is 3 and Juliette is 6. We get the little slide for them to roll the ball down and they get to pick their own color bowling ball. They think its totally thrilling. They also love the cheap snacks and music. Olivette Lanes recently rolled out free bowling passes for kids. All you have to do is follow this link and register your kids ages 2-12 and they can bowl free for a few months! They also send weekly coupons. If you have ever paid for your kids to bowl, you know this rocks for a cheap outing complete with hot dogs.
Mellow Mushroom : St. Louis got two of these epic franchises in the last couple years. There is one in South County and also one in Cottleville. Have you seen the colors and decor on this place? It screams exciting for kids. Not to mention their pizza and salads are delicious. Even more wonderful is their patio complete with games and space for kids to run! Just plan ahead if you are going on a weekend… this place fills up fast.
Crown Candy Kitchen; This place is an institution. I am sure you have been there if you grew up near St. Louis, but I had to include it. The magic for kids and adults never gets old and their shakes are epic. This place also gets a line around the block super fast! I included The Fountain on my other list as an alternative!
Cantina Laredo: If you don’t love Mexican food, can we really be friends? I am kidding, my husband doesn’t really like it and I still love him. However,I am obsessed with Mexican food and I really cant think of anything better than a patio night with chips and guacamole. I love Cantina Laredo because it is super fresh and has a really clean atmosphere. What I recently discovered is that their kid menu is amazing! The prices are cheap and the portions are huge. They have chicken fingers for picky eaters and beef tacos for little explorers. My son recently got a big bowl of macaroni there and he was happy as a clam.
Chris’s Pancake: Kids love breakfast for dinner and pancakes will make anyone happy. Chris’s pancake house has been around for awhile and it has a very comfy cozy vibe. It is off Hampton and serves up good portions at good prices. You will never feel uncomfortable bringing your wild children here. Another plus is it is about 5 min from Ted Drews if you want to make the night extra magical.
Peacock Diner: I mentioned this on my Valentines list, but it is worth mentioning again. When I ask my kids their favorite restaurant to go to they always say Peacock Diner. Im not saying its because they are food connoisseurs, but sitting at a neon counter on a spinning stool with a juke box in the corner is what kid dreams are made of. You can add a plethora of candy to any shake and they have all the diner food you could dream of. It is located in the heart of the Delmar Loop and their is never a shortage of fun things happening there. You can usually park right outside the front door.
